Slidell Christian Academy’s STRONG START 2020
THIS IS OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE, please, if your child is sick, do not send them to school.
We take the temperatures daily of SCA staff and students before they are permitted to enter the school building. We take the temperatures of all persons before they are permitted to enter the school building. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 F or higher is not permitted to enter the school building. If a student has a temperature of 100.4 or higher, parents/guardians will take the student home until they can return with a doctor’s authorization.
We also screen students with these health questions: Have you had a fever within the last 24 hours? Are you on fever reducing medication? Are you experiencing shortness of breath? Are you coughing? If the answer to any of those four questions is, “Yes,” parents/guardians will take the student home until they can return with a doctor’s authorization. SCA staff are screened in the same manner.
We are using safety and hygiene best practices from the Louisiana Department of Health, the Louisiana Department of Education, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the American Association of Christian Schools. We are using frequent handwashing, sanitizer, antibacterial/virucidal cleansers, social distancing, and wearing masks. Surfaces in the school are cleaned throughout the day.
SCA staff and students (3rd grade and up) are wearing face coverings, as able, to the maximum extent possible. Younger students are wear face coverings if their parents/guardians desire. To the greatest extent possible, we are keeping classes separate from each other with separate exits, places to eat lunch, areas outside, etc.,
In the past, SCA enjoyed an open door policy where parents/guardians were able to come into the school building to visit their child’s classroom at any time during the day. Unfortunately, due to safety and hygiene protocols, we are not be able to continue that practice for now. If possible, we will carry out business on the front portico of the school. Call the office (9850641-3785), let us know you are out front, and someone will come out to you. If a Parent/guardian must come into the building to the office to take care of any business, it must not be during arrival or dismissal, they must have on a face covering, have their temperature checked, answer the health screening questions, and sanitize or wash their hands immediately.
All persons entering the school building must be wearing a face cover, have their temperature taken, asked the health screening questions, and will be asked to leave if their temperature is above 100.4 F and/or they answer, “Yes,” to any of the health screening questions. They must sanitize or wash their hands immediately.
If a student exhibits symptoms of illness, especially shortness of breath, coughing, or a temperature of 100.4°F or higher, the student will go to the sick room and parents/guardians will be called to pick their child up from school immediately. The student will remain home until they can return with a doctor’s authorization.
A positive case of COVID-19 does not necessarily warrant classroom or school closure. If a staff member or a student tests positive for Covid-19, local public health officials will be contacted to determine any additional steps related to communication, quarantining practices, enhanced cleaning or disinfection processes, or possible school facility closure. The staff member or student may not come back to SCA until they are determined to be non-infectious by their doctor.
Until further notice, there will be no field trips.
