Why SCA?
Slidell Christian Academy, located in Slidell on two rural acres, offers a high academic education for your kindergarten-through eighth-grade student. SCA students achieve high scores on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills™ (ITBS) which is administered every spring. God is blessing SCA with both academic and spiritual success for our students. Our priority really is “Education with a Higher Purpose!” SCA was created and exists today as an extension of the body of Christ. It is our goal to provide a safe, challenging environment where each child will experience the joy of learning and succeeding in academics as well as becoming all that God created them to be. SCA nurtures the lives of a spiritually, culturally, and economically diverse student body. Our teachers love the Lord Jesus Christ and convey that love to their students.
Here are some reasons to choose SCA:
- We are a church-operated, not-for-profit ministry.
SCA is a ministry of Slidell Bible Chapel, an independent, Bible-teaching, local church meeting in Slidell for over thirty years. - We utilize the complete Abeka Curriculum for all grades.
Abeka is unashamedly Christian and traditional in their approach to education. The Abeka approach to Christian education keeps learning lively, interesting, and memorable. Their materials reflect sensible theory that is firmly anchored to practicality. Abeka materials have been developed as a result of 50 years of actual classroom experience in Pensacola Christian Academy, one of America’s largest and most respected Christian day schools. Their skilled researchers and writers do not paraphrase progressive education textbooks and add biblical principles; they do primary research in every subject and look at the subject from God’s point of view. Of course, the most original source is always the Word of God, the only foundation for true scholarship in any area of human endeavor. Thus Abeka publications are built upon the firm foundation of Scriptural truth and are written by dedicated and talented Christian scholars who are well grounded in the practical aspects of classroom teaching. - We keep classes small and the teacher to student ratio low.
Our small size provides more personal attention for your child. - We are not, nor do we seek to be, a state accredited school.
Also we do not seek certification of our teachers. We find that these qualifications are not necessary to produce a high-quality education; we are careful to hire the very best staff possible, who are committed to the Lord Jesus Christ and serving Him here at SCA. - We are a member of the American Association of Christian Schools.
AACS - the American Association of Christian Schools - is one of the leading organizations of Christian schools in the country. Founded in 1972 and now in operation for almost forty years, the AACS serves over 100,000 students and teachers in member schools throughout the United States. The general purpose and objectives of AACS are to aid in promoting, establishing, advancing, and developing Christian schools and Christian education in America.
